Wait, what? I learned to wash and dry my hair at the age of 8, before going to the swimming pool with the school. Are you telling me I have been doing it wrong for over 2 decades?
The simple answer is yes!
While washing your hair properly may not correct any hair loss issues, employing proper hair care can contribute to more vibrant and healthier looking hair and may help prolong the life of the hair you currently have.

Having a hair transplant 10 years ago was like undertaking some form of cloak and dagger mission. People were afraid to tell their friends, family and sometimes even their partners! Tabloid papers were quick to print ‘before and after’ images of any celeb they assumed had had a transplant, following them around like undercover cops, trying to snap the best picture. Guys, myself included, wouldn’t even talk to their friends about the loss of confidence they were suffering as a result of losing their hair.

In the world of hair restoration, the surgical transplant is viewed as the gold standard procedure for restoring lost hair and giving the best results. But deciding which procedure to have can often be a confusing process, so the first step to making a good decision is to understand the difference between the two main types of treatment available.
Hair transplants involve taking your own hair follicles from part of your body, usually the scalp, and quite literally relocating these to the areas of the head experiencing loss. There are two methods used for the extraction of the hair follicles, the FUT, or Follicle Unit Transplant procedure, or the FUE, or Follicle Unit Extraction procedure.

Hair restoration procedures, and in particular hair transplants, are fast becoming one of the most popular cosmetic treatments available to both men and women.
The rise in the number of celebrities and public figures revealing their own hair loss and treatment stories is a testament to how common it actually is in the modern world for someone to have a restoration procedure to treat his or her hair loss.
While the popularity of these treatments is growing, there are still a few sticking points for many people when considering having their own hair restoration procedure, and one of those issues is, of course, the cost.

Lately there has been a wave of stories about hair loss which have become ‘chic’ or ‘in vogue’, resulting in mass panic among the fitness and follically conscious among us, thanks to a variety of articles and web pieces claiming the negative effects of high intensity training, weightlifting and supplementation on hair growth.
As is the norm with fast growing topics like this, a theory is explored, which all of a sudden becomes popular opinion, which inevitably evolves into ‘fact’. And so the world descends into chaos. We have heard several cases already of people so concerned about these reports that they have ceased training altogether! So let’s deal with the issue at hand in a logical way.

The world of cosmetic medicine, and in particular hair restoration, has grown rapidly in recent times. Calling it an ‘industry’ is something we try to avoid because in essence, this is medicine, albeit cosmetic medicine, and in medicine the health, happiness and wellbeing of the client should always come first. In ‘industry’, sometimes the priorities can be different.
Hair transplants, hair clinics, new treatments, magic solutions; with the surge in popularity in hair restoration over the last few years, the inevitable interest has followed from those looking to capitalise financially on this emerging field. As in any industry, if there is money to be made, there will be people there looking to make it as quickly as possible.

Love him or hate him, football (soccer) fan or not, it can’t be denied that Wayne Rooney’s hair transplant changed things for the hair restoration industry, and changed lives for a lot of us men, in Europe anyway.

Back when ‘hair restoration’ was something only whispered about in the dark corners of Hollywood cocktail parties, and certain leading men disappeared from time to time only to return inexplicably sporting that strange ‘doll’s hair’ look that we are all too familiar with, hair plugs were the treatment of choice for those suffering with hair loss.

Anyone who has been a fan of Ricky Gervais over the past decade will be familiar with his friend, and now tv star, Karl Pilkington. They met working together on XFM, and Karl became the producer on Ricky & Stephen Merchant’s radio show. Karl is famously bald and Ricky has never let him forget it. He regularly refers to him as a “little round headed buffoon” or says he has a “head like a F***ing orange”. After going bald at a young age Karl has always just brushed this off,
“Think I started to go bald when I was 22, it’s fine I haven't got any problem with it, and it's weird that there are people out there who do struggle with it.”
So when Karl, exploring “Identity” in his new series “The Moaning of Life”, has the opportunity to wear a hairpiece, did he think it would make a difference?
“I think it will be a nice thing to experience it again, but I can’t see it being that much of a big deal for me.”
He couldn’t see it being a big deal, after all he’d been bald nearly 20 years. What happened was mind blowing. I’ve rarely, in all my years of watching TV, seen someone smile so much!
